March’s Book of the Month is Mistaco! by Eliza Kinkz. This energetic picture book follows a young girl whose small slip ups start to pile up over the course of the day. When she finally has a chance to slow down in the kitchen, those moments begin to come out in a surprising and creative way. With humor and warmth, the story captures what it feels like to have a not so perfect day and the relief of being able to share it. Kinkz’s expressive illustrations and playful storytelling create a reading experience that feels both honest and lighthearted, inviting readers to recognize themselves in the chaos and the joy.

Line4Line’s March Book of the Month Program continues to empower youth as change-makers. Line4Line creates a Reader’s Guide & Activity Bookmark available with each book. This month, we’re exploring how mistakes are not something to hide, but something to transform. Inspired by the story’s humor and creativity, we’re making our own “mistacos” by creating a tortilla from paper and writing a mistake right on top. Think about how mistakes can turn into something unexpected, expressive, or even a little funny. What will your mistaco be?
We’re stepping into a new season for Line4Line’s Book of the Month, one shaped by both growth and change.
Thanks to new support from the Rotary Club of Baton Rouge and Academic Distinction Fund, we’re continuing to invest in getting high quality books into classrooms. At the same time, we’re navigating a change in support from a key supplier, which means we need to adjust how books are distributed over the next few months.
This isn’t a step back, it’s just a shift! One that allows us to better understand how books are being used in classrooms while building a stronger case for future funding. The survey below covers your participation in Line4Line’s Book of the Month for March, April, and May. Teachers previously registered with Line4Line's Book of the Month Program who have not submitted this updated survey will need to do so.
